WebMux compared with common alternatives

This table is here to help you pick the right tool, not to rank them. It lists only verifiable facts; third-party cells follow each project's official docs, and anything we could not confirm says “Not verified”.

Which one to choose

If you only need one shell on a server to survive disconnects
SSH + tmux is simpler: most servers already have it, no new service required.
If you only need to share a terminal in a browser for a while
ttyd or gotty is simpler: one command shares it.
If you only need an SSH-style connection over flaky networks
mosh fits better: it is built for roaming and packet loss.
If your main need is writing code in a full browser editor
VS Code Remote Tunnels or code-server fit better.
If you want to take over CLI agents from your phone, see their questions and switch between terminal and chat
That is the case WebMux is built for.
